Austria's crossover legends KONTRUST are back!

After nine long years, Austria's crossover legends KONTRUST finally make their eagerly anticipated return with their new studio album, madworld, which will be released on November 3, 2023. On the follow-up to the 2014 release Explositive, KONTRUST introduces their two new members, vocalist Julia Ivanova and drummer Joey Sebald, for the first time on record. Both have already showcased their energetic live potential on the main stages of some of Europe's biggest festivals in 2022, such as Graspop Metal Meeting, Hellfest Open Air, Barcelona Rockfest, and Resurrection Fest. Singer Julia has also made a name for herself through her appearance on the Ukrainian TV show 'X-Factor,' and now demonstrates her impressive talent on the 11 tracks of the new album.

On madworld, the chart-topping band stays true to their lively, energetic, and experimental style, creating the perfect conditions to capture both old and new listeners alike. The captivating album opener 'i physically like you' kicks off in typical KONTRUST fashion with full power, followed by the exhilarating 'madhouse' and 'rock to outer space,' both featuring heavy riffs and party-pop vocals. The latter shows that despite their positive mood and party mentality, KONTRUST does not shy away from addressing serious topics. For example, the band sings about escaping from a devastated Earth to potentially start anew somewhere else. This feeling continues with the outstanding track 'the end,' which slows down the tempo a bit and features catchy rhythms and a sing-along chorus. The furious 'lederhosen overkill' then delivers another highlight, creating an auditory connection to the band's traditional stage attire. Electronic influences in the closing track 'i can't control it' lead to the finale, ending madworld with a bang.
